Temp Range: 15° – 50°

Chilly but not windy.  Took hot water out. Bill was friendly.  I wanted to get dishes done. Called Joe – they were leaving about 11 for Roatan Honduras to scuba dive.  I had 10 o’ clock appt Dr. Schmidt.  Went in without much trouble. Knee getting  weaker. Right leg a little shorter.  BP 126/84.  He said that was real good. Went to Hamm & Pool for thank you cards. Got multi colored basket & potpourri – wrapped and put in Brian’s pickup for his mother. Made out checks for Chato & Bill Edwards.  Ate fried chicken over town.  Worked on checks – sent 7. Called co-op & Garfield co-op for storage & paid it. Lloyd Miller funeral at 1:30. Went to it. Chatted with Mary Blair.  Bill took Brian to Dodge to look at truck.  Gone all afternoon.  I went by Doskas a minute.  Helen C was there.  Got letter from Kay. Had fried catfish, fried potatoes, big salad.  Ralph called about feed bills. Joe bought a Valley Sprinkler.

Temp range: 26° – 52°

Wasn’t so cold, but windy.  Bill woke me up to ask the time a little after 5 – never did go back to sleep.  Chato didn’t go  to work very early – kinda staggered around (got in sometime after 12:30).  I fixed bacon, poached egg, toast, grapefruit & coffee.  Called Jeannie – she seemed in a better mood.  We missed getting to be with them.  Rod Spreier stopped by – Bill was going after gas & said I was getting ready to go to Hays.  I fixed broccoli, cucumber & sour cream, took eggs, 2 bottles of wine & eggnog.  Left after 10 – Mexicans went back to bed, wouldn’t answer door.  I called Doska to shut down door to chicken house.  Drove slow, didn’t get to Hays til 11:45.  Had eggnog and shrimp, ate about 2:30.  Merlene gave me a cute birdhouse.  Ralph gave me perfume & us a clock for the living room.

Temp range: 44° – 80°

Up early, at least it’s daylight.  Bill came home to say he’d talked to Dawn.  Mrs. Parker very ill with cancer of the brain he thinks.  Joyce gave me perm, already had hair cut so cut the time down some. Went by Dillons & got 2 apple boxes (to put carns in).  Went by Ralph’s – he wasn’t there.  Went back & got groceries.  Called Ward to get permission to dig turnips.  It was a different field.  First field was not very big – a rider came along said to go south a mile & east.  They were bigger, so got some more.  Home a few minutes after 2pm.  Hadn’t eaten, put groceries away.  Bill came in – fixed pot of turnips.  Took some to Doska & Kay (she wasn’t home).  Ona White had called yesterday.

Temp range 58° – 90°

Windy about all day & still windy at 11:20 P.M.  Ralph and Merlene left about 40 minutes ago.  Waiting on Greg & he finally called after 8:30.  Was in Hutch (had gotten lost) so decided to stay there.  I went out about 7am to see what I’d caught in my trap.  Liver was gone & gate shut down.  Trap was empty.  Greg called 10 til 9, was in Ft. Worth.  Mary Ann came over at 10am til noon, cleaned living room & we changed the bedding upstairs.  Fixed Bill’s lunch & I was hostess at DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution) luncheon at Harvest Inn.  Took new impatiens and pale blue robe for Doska in Great Bend.  She’d gone home.  Got groceries & Bill came in from cutting wheat with Brian.  Bill said 3,000 bushels from 1pm to 7:20.
